I was honored to be asked to create a special gift for a member of the Premier Needle Arts Board of Directors. After a consultation call with my assigned board member (hi, Sean!), I got to work on devising a one-of-a-kind heirloom piece that he and his wife would cherish.

I modified a Connecting Threads pattern for this quilt top. Something that I think makes this quilt extra special is that I used vintage handkerchiefs in the centers of the gems — each one is different! I had a wonderful time letting my creativity loose on this king-sized gift. I, of course, finished up with on my Handi Quilter Infinity with an edge-to-edge design, leaving the handkerchiefs untouched to stand on their own.

Back in February, we all gathered for a special night in Salt Lake City for a “big reveal.” I think Sean and his wife were thrilled with the outcome and I hope it brings joy to their home for many, many years.
